The Privacy Policy of Mini Course
Welcome to Mini Course!
NYU Shanghai’s experimental Mini Course program makes the special expertise of NYU faculty available online to a very large community of Chinese audiences. We believe in equal access to higher education. With a curated collection of high-quality courses, we aim to cultivate an inclusive learning community through sharing, empowering, and inspiring.
Our online learning components include 1) Studying sessions consisting of videos, discussions, and extra learning materials; 2) bilingual scripts with timestamps to follow.
Mini Course (“we” or “us”) attaches great importance to the confidentiality and security of your privacy, and we want you to understand our privacy practices. Please carefully read this Privacy Policy to learn how it applies to the information we collect through the Mini Course website (hereinafter referred to as “the product”, including all content and pages in the product), how we use and protect information that specifically identifies you or that, when combined with other information, could be used to identify you (your “Personal Information”). We are the data controller for such information.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU
Data you provide about yourself.
We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us. Any information about you that may be provided to us when you use this product (such as when you register a user account or participate in discussion forums) may include but is not limited to, your name, contact information, gender, date of birth and occupation. We try our best to control the collection range of personal information to meet the requirements of business, laws and regulations, and the specific behaviors of the product.
It is your decision whether to provide your Personal Information.
- In some cases, the services on the Site will be limited or unavailable if you choose not to provide us with the Personal information necessary for this product. For example, to create user accounts, your name, email address, username, and password may be required.
- You may also choose to share more Personal Information than is needed. For example, you might add Personal Information to your account profile or to content that you provide, such as writing messages in a forum or providing answers in a discussion.
We also collect user information about student performance and learning patterns. In addition, we also record and display the following information: which pages of the product are visited, the order and time of being visited, which hyperlinks and other user interface controls are used, etc.
Data we collect automatically.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use information, including your Personal Information, for the following purposes:
To fulfill our contract with you.
We may use your information to provide you with offerings, products, and services that you request. For example, when you sign up to enroll in a course offered on the Site, we use your Personal Information to create and manage your participation, account, and course enrollment.
For our legitimate instructional purposes.
We may use your information to improve our products and services. We may contact you in connection with your engagement with our products and services, any accounts you may have with us, important policy or product updates, and news about updates, events, and offerings that we think you’ll like. We will provide customer service in response to your questions, and employ analytics that track Site usage against goals and mission.
With your consent.
We may seek your consent for additional uses of information, including Personal Information, and will use it only for the purpose described to you. All use of Personal Information is subject to applicable law.
HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION
With service providers.
We may share information, including Personal Information, with third parties like service contractors and suppliers who help us carry out functions on behalf of Mini Course.
In some cases, the Site is integrated with third-party services or contains links to websites published by third parties. These third parties are responsible for their own privacy practices, so you should pay attention anytime you are redirected to a third-party website and be sure to review its privacy policy. For example, if you sign up for a GitHub account in order to participate in code development for the Open edX platform, your GitHub account will be managed and controlled by GitHub and subject to its terms and policies.
With other visitors to the Site.
To create an interactive community environment, we may provide opportunities for you to submit content and information to share with other visitors to the site. This includes providing opportunities for you to join public community discussions by participating in forums.
With your consent.
We may seek your consent for additional disclosures of information, including Personal Information, and will share it only as described to you.
In an aggregated or de-identified format.
We may share with partners, researchers, the public, and other third parties information and Personal Information that is anonymous, de-identified, or aggregated in a manner that does not reasonably identify you for any purpose, as permitted by applicable law. When you cancel your account, we will stop using and delete your personal information or anonymize your personal information.
HOW TO MANAGE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Manage Communications.
You may stop receiving promotional communications by following the “unsubscribe” instructions contained in the messages you receive or by contacting us directly at contact.minicourse@gmail.com. We may continue to contact you about non-promotional matters including administrative and transactional updates. You may update the email address we use for communications by contacting us directly at contact.minicourse@gmail.com. If you have an account for one of our products or services, you may update your email address within the account profile.
Manage Updates, Edits, Access, and Deletion.
To update, edit, access, and/or delete your Personal Information, or to request that we restrict our use of your Personal Information for any purpose, please contact us directly at contact.minicourse@gmail.com. If your request is related to an account that we manage, you may be able to update, edit, access, and/or delete your information directly within the account settings and profile. If you choose to restrict our ability to process Personal Information, and the processing is otherwise required to provide you with various services and products offered on the Site, we may not be able to provide you with those services or products.
Cancellation of account.
If you no longer want to use the services of Mini Course, You can directly cancel your account in our product, subject to the conditions agreed in the service agreement and relevant national regulations. The specific path is as follows: users select "Account" at the top right of the interface, choose "Delete Account", type in your password to confirm and submit a cancellation request. After you cancel your account, we will stop providing you with products and/or services, and we will delete your personal information or anonymize your personal information, unless otherwise required by law or regulation.
SECURITY
While we work hard to ensure the integrity and security of our network and systems, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your Personal information.
MODIFICATION OF PRIVACY POLICY
This Privacy Policy will be reviewed and updated from time to time. When changes are made, the updated Privacy Policy will be effective immediately upon posting on this page with an updated effective date. By accessing the Site after any changes have been made, you accept the modified Privacy Policy and any changes contained therein. In case you miss the notification referenced above, be sure to return to this page periodically to ensure familiarity with the most current version of this Privacy Policy.

Mini Course Cookie Policy
A cookie is a small piece of data (text file) stored on users’ computer system when they visited the website, and send back users’ information such as the language preference or login information to identify them when they visit. We will never use Cookies for any purpose other than web service.
It is entirely up to you to accept or refuse cookies, and you can change your option by modifying your Web browser control.
If you refuse to use cookies, you can still use our website though some of our functions will be limited. There are tracing disability functions in many Web browsers, which can post requests to disable tracing.

安全性
